HOME

Home – Planet Earth.  We all live here, in the body of this planet.  How absurd it is that we work so hard to stay healthy, while at the same time we trash the home we live in, making it unsafe for sustaining life.  Without a healthy planet, our lives eventually will be a nightmare from which we won’t awaken.

I love this planet, but it is in deep trouble.  And I am suggesting, asking, begging, that each of you who reads this consider doing something about saving our planet from further damage.  Pass this message on – if you want to live a healthy life, if you want your children, your grandchildren to live healthy, productive lives, then you must work to assure that the home they live in and on – this planet Earth, be made healthy for all of us.   I just saw the film “Home” which was financed by the employees of many, many businesses, and is sent out free to theaters or individuals who want to show the film to others.  Free.  All because people want to save this planet.  Be one of them.  You can watch “Home” on YouTube.  You can order it for free to show to friends.  It’s informative, sad and yet hopeful.

I am a retired teacher, writer and artist. This web site was set up for several reasons. First is to give people a chance to see my art work, and decide if there is something they like enough to contact me. Glad you mentioned that. One of the easiest things we can do to help the planet and ourselves is to eat less animal products and more vegetables. Even if we just switch to one more vegetarian meal a week, it will make a huge difference for Mother Earth.

    John Vidal posted:
“If we really want to reduce the human impact on the environment, the simplest and cheapest thing anyone can do is to eat less meat. Behind most of the joints of beef or chicken on our plates is a phenomenally wasteful, land- and energy-hungry system of farming that devastates forests, pollutes oceans, rivers, seas and air, depends on oil and coal, and is significantly responsible for climate change. The way we breed animals is now recognised by the UN, scientists, economists and politicians as giving rise to many interlinked human and ecological problems, but with 1 billion people already not having enough to eat and 3 billion more mouths to feed within 50 years, the urgency to rethink our relationship with animals is extreme.”

Yes, this is something that is made VERY clear in the film HOME. One pound of beef requires so much in the way of resources, and is so damaging to our soil and our water supply. It really is impossible to ignore the facts – it’s like ignoring an illness.

To me, it is common sense that when you understand that something is damaging your home, your way of life, your survival, you make a decision to change. All the advertising in the world, all the lobbyists in the world, won’t change the truth. Look for the truth and then try to live by it. Davina

    Thank you for this, Davina.

My commitment is to meditate daily, making it a priority, for it is sitting in silence that we experience our connection to ourselves, one another, to our planet, all life upon it and to our amazing Universe. It is also through that connection to our inner knowing that the greatest solutions for healing the plight of our earth and its inhabitants come to us at which point we are motivated to take Action to do what is necessary for the healing that must take place.

    • Davina says:

Thanks, Catherine. This is probably one of the most important things we can do. Being in touch with our true selves is the means for elevating the consciousness of the planet. Without being conscious of who we are and what our connection with the rest of the world is, we ignore the most basic, fundamental means of healing ourselves and the planet. Davina

Another simple way to help planet earth is to buy organic produce and be part of the movement for mandatory labeling of genetically engineered foodstuffs (aka Genetically Modified Organisms, or GMOs).

This year hundreds of volunteers will be needed to get petition signatures of registered voters to place a Citizens’ Initiative on the Ballot in November 2012 that would required mandatory labeling of genetically engineered foods and food ingredients and restore our fundamental right to know what we are eating.

If you want more information on saving planet earth, this is a great website on

      Thanks, Teresa,

This is a really important issue. We all have to become activists in one way or another in order to counter the effects of the loud voice of money. One way is to meditate and be silent enough to still some of the noise; another is to make our voices heard through legitimate means like you’re suggesting. I appreciate the information. Davina
